Accessible transport

I have a particular passion for inclusive and sustainable travel; and a wealth of experience in designing and delivering accessible transport strategies and services, from dial-a-ride, taxi schemes, low-flow bus services, shopmobility, travel concessions, accessible pedestrian environments and more…

I have spoken and written widely in this field - see for example my research on Scottish Council Equality Outcomes.  My work in Edinburgh, initiating Dial-a-Bus, Taxicard and low-floor buses, led to the Council receiving the first Equality Award from the European Commission in Scotland.

How I can help:
  • identifying user needs
  • planning services
  • reviewing equality, social and economic impacts
  • inclusive design - accommodating diverse and sometimes conflicting interests such as disabled people, cyclists, pedestrians and cars
  • street audits
  • ensuring effective consumer input.
